Hair condition

Hair is a remarkably tough material. It can stand up to considerable abuse, but over time this can wreak havoc with its natural properties. In particular, its porosity can be badly affected, so that it breaks easily and cannot be styled satisfactorily.

On the other hand, we can recognise hair that is in good condition. It shines, it is easy to manage – it just looks good. Even though the hair shaft is technically ‘dead’, in that its cells are no longer dividing, we may describe it as ‘healthy’. So why can its properties change so much that the hair loses this ‘healthy’ appearance?

Sometimes this may be due to a medical condition such as poor nutrition: starvation or anaemia due to a lack of protein in the diet can damage the hair. In famine conditions, some people’s hair changes as it grows from black to gingery-red if they cannot get enough protein.

Hair Loss

Normally, we lose about 100 hairs each day – old hairs fall out and are replaced with new ones. But with hair loss, hair thins at a rate that can’t be replaced. Falling hair not replaced by new ones can make a person bald or have bald patches. Hair loss can either be temporary or permanent. Changing hairstyle or shampoos used may ease the problem. But if that doesn’t help, a doctor may prescribe a drug to slow or stop hair loss and to aid hair growth. Hair is healthiest when we eat right, exercise, and protect it from too much sun.

7.jpg Why are some people’s hairs shinier than others? Shiny hair is a sure sign of health hair. The cuticles lie flay so light reflects on them. Because they lay flat and overlap each other, the inner layers are well protected from the hazards of the environment. Straight hair also appear shinier than curly hair because of a natural oil that covers hair strands which is called sebum.
If you are one of those people who have dry hair, experts advise you to wash your hair less frequently. Having dry hair also means that you should be more careful in using heat styling products because dry hair are more fragile and prone to damage and breakage.

6.jpg Resorts, pools and beaches are popular during the summer. While some people get the best protection for their skin, they tend to forget to protect their hair.
Swimming pools contain high levels of chemical, specifically chlorine, to keep the water bacteria-free. Unfortunately, this king of chemical can do great damage to your hair. They will strip your hair of moisture, making them brittle and easy to break.
To protect the hair from chlorine, you can protect your hair with conditioner before diving into the pool. But the easiest and most inexpensive way to protect your hair is to use a swimming cap.

5.jpgThe harmful rays emitted by the sum can do great damage to the hair. UVA and UVB rays damage the hair by burning the hair cuticle and damaging the scalp that is not protected.
To avoid such damage, you can start by avoiding going outside between 10 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon where the sun’s rays are harmful the most. Have your hair protected and covered if you need to go outside during this time.
Have a deep conditioning treatment to the salon, along with a trim to prevent split ends during the hot months of summer.

3.jpgOur hair is like our skin. It needs enough moisture to stay healthy and shiny. But due to excessive styling and even shampooing, our hair is robbed of the moisture level that it needs.
To avoid having dry brittle hair, always use a conditioner after every shampoo and apply it to the lower part of your hair. At least once a week, deeply condition your hair to replenish it from its lost moisture.
Some hair products contain alcohol. To protect the level of moisture in your hair, avoid using these kinds of products because they deprive your hair from the moisture it needs making it more prone to damage.

1.jpg Having curly hair means having a difficult time in finding the right style for your hair. In order to protect your curly hair, you should have quality accessories and equipments for your hair. Use of products and equipments not suitable for your hair will only cause damage that will lead to breakage and split-ends of the hair.
One good type of brush to use is the bristle brush. It is not only gentle for your hair, but it also massages the scalp, improving the circulation. The improvement of the circulation of the blood will also help your hair grow faster.

1. USE A MILD SHAMPOO
If you are not the type of person who uses a lot of gunk and chemicals for your hair, you really are not in need of a shampoo that deeply cleanses. A perfect product to use would be a baby shampoo since it would less likely irritate your scalp.

2. USE A CONDITIONER
There are different kinds of conditioners for different types of hair. Use a conditioner to prevent further damage of your hair.

3. BE CAREFUL IN TOWEL – DRYING YOUR HAIR
Towel-drying will break the strands of the hair. Instead of scrubbing, blot your hair to dry.

4. COMB YOUR HAIR
Wet hair is fragile than dry hair. Use a wide-tooth combed to detangle your hair when wet.

Alopecia (Hair Loss)

Losing up to 100,000 strands of hair every day is normal–old hairs do fall, and these are replaced by new ones. But not losing all! Losing all is an abnormal condition called alopecia. It becomes obvious when the rate of hair fall is more than the rate the hair is replaced. The person either becomes bald or have hair patches. When you see these happen, see a doctor immediately, before it is too late. The doctor may be able to prescribe drugs that could either prevent the condition, perhaps slow it down., or grow new hair. The hair is similar to the other parts of the bodies–one should have a healthy diet, if one wants to keep fit, and that includes your crowing glory–the hair. Also, keep your hair, as much away from the sun.
